Sukaramai I village on Medan Area district is the area that we visited on that day, and the local cadres were very enthusiastic for welcoming us. Those cadres are responsible to create the area neat as the plants are beautifully arranged and the waste being separated and classified as organic and non-organic in the corners of alley.
The waste management is managed from inside of the household. They make compost from their organic, and they gather the non-organic in one place called Waste Bank.
The facilitator role is very significant. Mr. Amrin is the head of facilitator in this area. He invites people to participate and run the program. “Many people wants to sort and process waste now,” he said.
There was unusual scenery in this area. We saw beautiful colored Bonsai tree. That tree turns out to be an artificial tree made from hazardous waste Styrofoam that cannot be recycled anymore. The lines of beautiful Bonsai Tree are designed in such way that looks beautiful. “The citizen will try to recycle any kind of waste” Said Derliana Nasution, the Headman of Sukaramai I.
In this area, the watering plants are designed with a circulation system. The device is attached on mosque yard, which there are interconnected pipes to everywhere. This initiative was very appreciated by the Head of Village and other parties.
