"Hello environment cadres how are you all?" said Wihartuti Dwi Rahayu as a Head of Surabaya Environment Facilitators during her arrival with other members in one area that has developed the Waste Bank Program.

This kind of visit are regularly conducted to monitor the development of the waste bank program in some areas after the technical training was properly conducted.

"One of my concern besides organizing the organisation, I also keep increasing the capacity of all facilitators. Through the training and assistance, I hope that all facilitators can play boost their capacity," said Mrs. Agus, her well known nick name.

Further, she hopes that each Surabaya areas will have a pilot area for the Waste Bank Program. Therefore, the capacity building for all facilitators is very important.

On every occasion, Mrs. Agus  often says that the facilitators should understand all the technical process of waste. But on top of that, the facilitator also should be able to think how to create a development strategy and human resources to make the program sustainable.

Furthermore, the Surabaya facilitators have actually received the initial exam. Almost three months most of them have joined a training in Lamongan Green and Clean (LGC) 2011. During the training, they were also involved in developing program strategies.

Surabaya currently has approximately 400 facilitators who spread in all districts and sub-districts of Surabaya. Therefore, in July 2011, all Environmental Facilitators in Surabaya held a huge meeting to capture all the aspirations.

"Through that huge meeting that we have been done, we can know all wishes and ideas from all facilitators. This can be a based material to prepare and fix our organization’s budget and plan,”

said Mrs. Agus.
