Friday morning, 15th July 2011 Cultural Park Banjarmasin filled with people who were doing some preparation. The sound of people singing groups was accompanied by music. That was the atmosphere ahead to the 2011 Banjarmasin Green and Clean Appreciation Event.
In the morning, the local people showed their environmental slogans, and they were from 20 regions nominated areas of 2011 Banjarmasin Green and Clean. By wearing full costumes with recycling accessories, these enlighten the event that brought approximately 1000 people from various classes.
As a form of public awareness to make the city of Banjarmasin greener, each people also carries a fruit plant. "We do not require the same plants, the most important is the participation from the community in supporting our greening movement,” said M. Hamdi, A Head of Hygiene and Gardening Department.
The handover of the plants to five sub districts were conducted by H. Muhidin, A, Mayor of Banjarmasin. Along with it, thousands of plants were raised together by all participants.
The sun started to sting, but it didn’t loose the enthusiasm of the people. They still cheered while also waiting for the announcement of the best areas in 2011 Banjarmasin Green and Clean Program.
The appreciation event was combined with a Talk Show. The sources were H. Muhidin as Mayor of Banjarmasin City, H. Suriansyah as Director of Daily Radar Banjarmasin and Saut Mangosta Lumbantobing as Area Sales Manager of PT. Unilever Indonesia. The Talk Show was moderated by Drs. Fathurrahman as a Head of Banjarmasin Green and Clean Program.
The talk show discussed about the development of Banjarmasin Green and Clean Program that has been rolled for three years. Moreover, Banjarmasin Waste Bank Program has rolled out and contain with 52 environmental facilitators.
RT 22, Kuin, North Banjarmasin has received a title of Best of the Best Area for Planned Category. While, RT 29, Kebun Bunga, East Banjarmasin has won a title of Best of the Best for Natural Category.
