Longing and Yearning Embodied Through Manado Green and Clean

In early 2000, a Manadonese Marlon Sumaraw visited Surabaya. He was a journalist and lived in Surabaya for about 6 months for training at Jawa Pos. His impression about Surabaya is filthy. After 6 months training in Surabaya, he returned to Manado.

At 2009, when he appointed as editor in chief for Manado Post, he often visits Surabaya. When he came back, he got surprised. Surabaya was transforming into a beautiful city, it is not filthy anymore. It was because the successful Surabaya Green and Clean program, a program that has been held by Unilever.

At 2010, he got an unexpected guess. It was Ima Novita, Indonesian Environment Project Officer Yayasan Unilever. Ima came to bring good news for Marlon. She said that Manado was nominated for Green and Clean 2011 Program. Marlow was very surprised yet happy to hear this. He wanted this program so badly to executed in his city, this because he already saw what happened in Surabaya in 2009.

When he attends the Jakarta Green and Clean 2010 event, the committee decides to choose Manado to be the ninth city for the Green and Clean program.

Marlon seems very eager to succeed this program. He gets involved in socialization to the appreciation. He thinks that this is a must, because of Manado has became world tourism city, so the clean and beauty of the city with international standard is a must. In addition, Manado has established a central Government as one of the objectives of the Meeting, Incentive, Convention, and Exhibition (MICE).

With the Green and Clean program, he expects that Manado can manage town and economical progress. He feels that the program truly support his dream for Manado.
